Virginia Beach Central Lions Club
History

It all began about 7:00 PM on November 15, 2005 when a group of seventeen civic minded men and women met at the Central Library in Virginia Beach, VA with a common goal to form a new Lions Club. Past District Governor Lion Clayton Senecal and Lion Alton Miller guided the group through the initial process of forming the Club.

First the group selected a name for the new club, The Virginia Beach Central Lions Club and next they nominated and voted in the four basic officers: Lion Alton Miller, President, Darl Anderson, Secretary, Thomas Wells, Treasurer and Eric Boe, Membership Chairman. The initial term of the elected officers will end June 30, 2006 in accordance with Lions International's fiscal year.

Next on the agenda was the establishment of dues for the members. Taking into account that the international dues is $39.00 per year and the state dues is $16.00 per year the attendees voted to establish the dues at $50.00 per quarter which included one meal per month.

Finally it was decided that he club would meet once a month on the second Tuesday.

The application for a new club was forwarded to Lions Clubs International and on November 28, 2005 the new charter was granted with twenty new members and one transfer who was Lion Alton Miller, the founder and Guiding Lion.

Since the charter was issued, five new members joined and ten members transferred in from other clubs.
